Which parts of the forklift truck should be checked most often? Part II

In the second part of this article we will continue to present the parts of the forklifts that must be checked most often. As I said in the first article, which you can read in full, these parts need to be checked in order to prevent malfunctions and accidents at work, but also to always work at maximum performance.

The battery charger

The battery charger is another important component of the forklift that needs to be maintained and replaced on a regular basis, if necessary. Even if all the forklift parts are built to last as long as possible, the battery charging system and electrical equipment are subject to wear and tear. The role of this mechanism is a basic one, because in its absence, the battery of the forklift is not charged, and it cannot be operated. Check the charger early to avoid the situation when it fails even during the loading and unloading process.

Control sleeve

The control sleeve is another part that we have to check regularly. It must be checked in detail because defects in the forklift control system could endanger the safety of the operator or other employees.

The exhaust system

The use of a worn or defective exhaust system has three major consequences. The first is the noise that is too high, and the second is the elimination of a quantity of pollutants above the limit accepted by law. But three is the largest. Faults in the exhaust system can cause various engine failures, so check it periodically and replace it as soon as you discover a defect.

Mirrors

It is mandatory that the forklift operator has maximum visibility, and for this to happen, all the forklift mirrors must be in the right place and be in optimum conditions. Moreover, in order to be safe at all times, you need to make sure that the mirrors are periodically cleaned and that they provide maximum visibility.

Keys

The keys are subject to damage, but also to loss. Always keep a backup key so you can multiply it if the main key is destroyed or lost. If the forklift has only one key, and it disappears, the process of producing a new key will be more complex and implicitly more expensive.

If there are more than ten forklifts operating in the warehouse at the same time, you can buy consumables in advance in order to streamline the change process and save valuable time. Read part three of this article next week. Safe week!
